How to Avoid Dryness in Your Hair

As the weather continues to get colder and colder, you may notice that as the air becomes dryer, your hair does too. This is not only a bad look for your hair, but is also unhealthy, making it significantly more vulnerable to breakage. Fortunately, this is almost entirely preventable. Below are a few useful tips on how to avoid that annoying dryness that comes with the winter.

  1. Avoid washing your hair in excessively hot water. If you can brave the cold, it is best for your hair to be washed in cool water. Hot water can strip your hair of its natural oils and leave it susceptible to dryness and breakage.
  2. Do your best to limit the amount of chemicals in your hair to keep it properly moisturized. Things such as bleach and hair dye can significantly dry out your hair. It is ideal to stop this all together if possible, but if not, do your best to minimize the frequency at which your use chemical treatments in your hair.
  3. Provide your hair with an intensive weekly treatment. This is a fantastic way to avoid dry hair. There are several options. You can do a deep weekly conditioning, leave coconut oil in your hair overnight, or you can also try using a hair mask. All three of these treatment options are deeply beneficial for the health of your hair and will invigorate it with more moisture and natural oils.
